Pastor Jim Duke
For of him, and through him, and to
him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen." Romans 11:36
OCTOBER 2008
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from
God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians
1:2. We pray that this report finds
you doing well and enjoying the Lord’s benefits.
It was a privilege to have had the
opportunity this month to visit with Grace Baptist Church and Pastor Wilbert
Ellis in Florence, KY; Hillcrest Baptist Church and Pastor Tim Day in Winston-Salem, NC; Shallowford Baptist Church and Pastor Bill James in Pfafftown, NC; and Philadelphia Baptist Church and Interim-Pastor Doyal Thomas in Decatur, AL.
My sincere thanks to each church and pastor for their hospitality and
fellowship, as well as for the opportunity to be able to share our burden for
the Lord’s work in Singapore (and Papua New Guinea).
The latest email from our Immigration Consultants in Singapore, who are helping us migrate, remains
the same as last month. They are
continuing to follow up on our entry applications and are waiting for them to
be processed by the appropriate offices.
Your prayers for us concerning this matter are much appreciated. It is something that we do not understand,
yet trust the Lord that all things are working out according to His
timeframe. It is our desire to be
settled once again and to be busy in the Lord’s work.
Though I haven’t been able to call Pastor Norman Malu in Port Moresby this month, he was scheduled to be
in the Highlands about now to hold a revival service
at one church and then to travel to another church to teach an extensive course
on the book of Revelation for pastors, deacons, and others who desire to
attend.
While in North Carolina, it worked out for me to meet up
with Cyd and go with her to her doctor’s appointment. This was not a regularly scheduled checkup
but due to her having many GI symptoms and having more weight loss, we called
and asked if there was an opening in October at the clinic there. After tests, it was determined that she
has several bacterial infections in her upper digestive
tract, which account for a lot of inflammation, fever, and illness.
They also found a couple of microscopic parasites still going on that
she contracted in Papua New Guinea over a year ago. Her doctor put her on an intensive treatment
plan that is making her sicker than the illness itself, yet we hope in the end
she will feel a lot better.
Once again, we want to express our
sincere thanks for your prayers, love, encouragement, and support for the
Lord’s work in Singapore.
Love in
Christ, Frank James
